March 18th is Transit Driver Appreciation Day! According to National Today, the first bus line, ‘Carrosses à cinq sols,’ was launched on this day in 1662. The M Transit system would not function successfully without its team of dedicated, compassionate, and knowledgeable drivers.

Public transit drivers are an essential part of the public transit system and play a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the system. Here are a few reasons why public transit drivers are important:

Safe operation: Our drivers are responsible for the safe operation of the transit vehicle, ensuring that passengers arrive at their destinations safely and without incident.

Customer service: The M Transit drivers are often the first point of contact for passengers and play an important role in providing customer service, such as answering questions, providing directions, and assisting passengers with disabilities or other special needs.

Emergency response: Our drivers are trained to respond to emergencies, such as accidents or medical emergencies, and can provide first aid or call for additional assistance if needed.

Route knowledge: The M’s drivers also have extensive knowledge of the transit system and can provide valuable information to passengers about transit routes, schedules, and fare options.

Community engagement: Community engagement is a staple of the M and its employees. Our drivers often interact with community members and can serve as ambassadors for the transit system, promoting the benefits of public transit and building positive relationships with passengers and the community.

Overall, public transit drivers are an essential part of the public transit system, and their role is critical to ensuring that the system operates safely, reliably, and efficiently, and that passengers receive high-quality customer service. Because of our drivers, the M Transit is the movement that’s going places!
